About Us
Rivendell House seeks to create…a community of presence and peace around the world.
We are founded in the love of Jesus and seek to facilitate physical and virtual space for all individuals to rest, grow themselves, their organizations, and their communities.
Our Community Values:
Respect God - You don’t have to believe in the divine, agree with the divine, or like the divine...but as a part of our community, you must respect the idea and possibility of the divine.
Be Human and Respect Other Humans - This community operates on the kindness of humanity. You are invited to join us…yet you are also free to leave at any point. If you are present…be present and respect the other presences being shared with you.
Take Responsibility - You are an incredibly beautiful and broken individual. All of us already know that about you and ourselves. So don’t be afraid to acknowledge both when needed.
Be Generous - We live an abundant world that if stewarded correctly can provide for us all. Let’s start living that way.
Let Go and Trust - None of us can see the whole narrative or the arc of history. So let’s humble ourselves and trust that the narrative is arching towards good…even if it doesn’t feel like it. Why? What choice do we really have?
FAQs
-
In the Lord of the Rings, Rivendell was a place of peace, rest, wisdom, and joy where individuals from diverse cultures came together. It was there that they rested, feasted, strategized, shared, and learned together. It was there were they united against evil. It was in Rivendell that the fellowship was created where they voluntarily collaborated to help each other bear their individual burdens, the future of their communities, and the larger fate of the world. We hope to create a similar space of peace for growth and collaboration.

Community Prayer
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me bring love. Where there is offence, let me bring pardon. Where there is discord, let me bring union. Where there is error, let me bring truth. Where there is doubt, let me bring faith. Where there is despair, let me bring hope. Where there is darkness, let me bring your light. Where there is sadness, let me bring joy. O Master, let me not seek as much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love, for it is in giving that one receives, it is in self-forgetting that one finds, it is in pardoning that one is pardoned, it is in dying that one is raised to eternal life.

Joseph enjoys supporting people on their life journey and has done so in a variety of contexts since training as a counsellor nearly 20 years ago. Inspired by the way in which people have ‘loved on him’ during the hard times, Joseph hopes to hold a ‘loving space’ for others.
